The Mountain Garden Is Looking Good

It is the first half of June and I am starting to get excited by our garden. The walking onions already have bud heads. The beans are coming up. The potatoes are growing well and have been hilled. The garlic is past my waist and is forming scapes already. I have blossoms on my zucchini and the leeks are starting to grow.

I always plant one bed with flowers. You need something nice to look at in the vegetable garden. I have taken the Kozy Koats off the tomatoes and peppers and they have the occasional flower on them. Some green onions are almost ready to harvest. The snow peas are flowering. The carrots are up.

We have finished the spinach and had many servings of lettuce. It is even warm enough that we have put shade cloth over the lettuce. The strawberries are formed and I have harvested the haskaps.

Oh, yeah, She Who Must Be Obeyed has done some stuff with flowers and the rest of the yard, if you’re into that kind of thing.

  1. I love your vegetable garden and especially the idea of planting one section with flowers! I will take some homegrown heirloom tomatoes to go please!

    1. Har! We live in the mountains and some of the variety is trying to plant things that are hardy here. Walking onions are a plant that grows onions and the end of the stalks. Haskap are a tart hardy berry.
