Since the pandemic has unleashed on us, I have been having a Gibson Cocktail every few days. I normally make it with Bombay Sapphire Gin but then I tried it with the Bombay Sapphire East Gin which I found to be a nice change. However, I was in the liquor store and saw Tanqueray Gin.
I know friends who use it frequently. I decided to give it a try.
First, I tried it neat. Then I made my favourite Gibson Cocktail and gave it a sip. I had forgotten how different a London Dry Gin is from the Sapphire Gin. It has a less floral but clear herb flavour.
The Verdict
The Tanqueray makes a delicious Gibson Cocktail and is even nice chilled neat. It is quite different from the Sapphire gin. Which do I like better. I can’t say. They are both delicious in different ways and I have no problem recommending both. Sigh. I guess I’ll have to keep drinking both until I can make up my mind. The thing I do for my readers.
