We were continuing our experimenting with cocktails and my buddy, Bill, found a recipe for a drink called a Rookie Cocktail. It is from a blogger at http://rookielibations.blogspot.ca. It is a site well worth checking out. It was Bill’s turn to pick what we tried and this is what he chose.
I won’t post the recipe here as I do not own it but you can find it here at the inventors site, Rookie Highball.
We gathered the ingredients together, juiced the lemon, and mixed the whiskey, lemon, Pimm’s and bitters in a glass.
We added the ginger ale and stirred lightly. We topped it up with ginger ale and added ice.
Some lemon garnish and we served it.
The Verdict
These were delicious. They have a nice refreshing taste with lots of complexity from the whiskey and the Pimm’s. The lemon and bitters gave it a great tart overtone. It reminded me of an ice tea but oh so much better. I will be making more of these.
