When I buy a Mexican Seasoning Blend it usually tastes more like taco seasoning or chili powder. When I’ve been to Mexico, their seasonings are a lot more varied than these choices. When I was on the Mayan Riviera, I was served dishes that had more herbs, a heavy onion and garlic hit and just a touch of heat. This is my attempt at making a similar seasoning.
I simply mixed all the ingredients together and put them in valuable hand labelled spice container.
The Verdict
This is very similar to what I remembered. It has a nice earthy base from the herbs, strong aromatics from the onion and garlic powders and just a touch of heat from the dried chilies. I will use this in many dishes.
