Your in a hurry and you decide to throw burgers on the grill. You form some patties and start cooking. Who has time for anything more? You do.
We have all used barbecue sauces and other condiments on our burgers by just putting them on when serving.
However, I have been brushing strong flavoured sauces like HP Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce and steak sauces on my burgers while grilling them. The trick is to put just a little on the burger to glaze it. That way it doesn’t overpower the burger. It gives the burger a seasoned taste and a nice colour. It makes a burger taste like you spent time making it with careful seasonings.
I never found it worked well with barbecue sauces which tend to be too sweet. Koss Sauce has a less sweet more complex taste so why not give it a try.
I put 2 to 3 ml (1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon) on each burger after putting them on the grill and brushed it over the burger. When I flipped the burger, I did the same to the other side.
The Verdict
I love this technique as it gives a great burger that doesn’t taste like it’s been dipped in sauce but has a nice spice hit. The Koss Sauce was perfect for it. There wasn’t too much sweet and there was a touch of tart. The mild spice finish was wonderful.
You would never now the burger was “sauced” it just tasted like a perfectly seasoned burger with little work.
