One of the downsides to keeping a sourdough starter is that they have to be fed weekly. This means taking some of the starter out and replacing it with flour and water. Either you need to use the starter you take out or throw it away. I just can’t bring myself to throw it away so I am always looking for ways to use. It was Super Bowl Sunday. You have to have something you can eat in front of the TV. Pizza is the perfect food. I had been wanting to try a different sourdough pizza crust that would have a bit more bite to it. This is the Sourdough Pizza I made.
The problem with most hamburger buns is that they are too large in my opinion. Either you buy the horrible pasty ones in the supermarket or you buy a higher quality bun and it is twice the size. I like a bun that has a nice flavour, a good chew and isn’t so big you don’t notice the burger or other sandwich filling. These Sourdough Onion Buns fit the bill.
