Sesame Hoisin Wings, Snack Time


She Who Must Be Obeyed and I went grocery shopping today. They had something we both love on sale, chicken drumettes. We were doomed. So, when we got home, I decided to try a different recipe.

I found this one in Canadian Living Magazine and it is on their site at the following link:

As there was only me and the missus, I made 1/3 of the recipe.
The mixing up of the marinade ingredients and setting aside some for a glaze took less than 5 minutes. Then it was into the refrigerator to marinate for an hour. I did turn them once.


I spent a couple of minutes putting the drumettes on a foil lined pan and then it went into my toaster oven at 400 F for 20 minutes. I then turned them and brushed with some of the marinade and back into the oven for 20 minutes.


I took them out of the toaster oven and preheated the broiler in my full size oven. I brushed them with the glaze and under the broiler for 2 minutes. I turned them and brushed the other side with glaze and gave them 2 minutes under the broiler. They are taken out and sprinkled with sesame seeds.


The Verdict

These are very good drumettes. I have other wing recipes I like better but this is one of the best oriental style drumettes I have tried. If they were served to me in a restaurant I would be impressed.

I do note that I spent about 15 minutes of actual work to get a great result. An afternoon appetizer of drumettes and wine. Definitely a good day.
