Maple Glazed Salmon at oldfatguy.ca

It is the season when wild salmon is only expensive as opposed to ridiculously extravagant. We had a nice piece of sockeye fillet but we had been working in the yard and were busy. One of the great things about my Weber Genesis Propane Grill is it can make a great meal quickly. I decided to do a simple glaze for the salmon and grill it.

I started by mixing 25 ml (2 tablespoons) of maple syrup with 10 ml (2 teaspoons) Dijon Mustard. I brushed the salmon with the glaze.

I preheated my grill to medium and put the salmon on skin side down.

I let it cook over the medium heat for about 5 minutes, brushed the salmon with glaze and turned it.

I cooked it for 5 more minutes, flipped and brushed with glaze.

I continued cooking to an internal temperature of 140 F. This took about 4 minutes with a 3/4 inch thick fillet.

I took the salmon off and let it sit for a few minutes.

We served it with pasta salad and a green salad.

The Verdict.

This is a nice simple salmon dish. The maple gives it a sweet coating that is balanced by the spice of the mustard. If you want a quick meal that tastes and looks as if you spent a lot of time, try this.
