Valentine Beef Tenderloin

It was Valentines Day. I needed something classy to serve She Who Must Be Obeyed. I went old school classic and grilled a Valentine Beef Tenderloin. Often the easiest is the best. I just seasoned it and grilled it on my Louisiana Grills Pellet Smoker.

I gave both sides of two 3/4 inch beef tenderloin steaks a good shake with Louisiana Grills Chophouse Steak Rub.

I preheated the pellet smoker to 450 F with the searing grate open. I put the steaks over the searing grate for thirty to fourty seconds a side to get some nice sear marks.

I took them off the sear grate and put them on the regular part of the grill for about 3 minutes a side to get to an internal temperature of 140 F. This is a bit more than medium rare but is the way She Who Must Be Obeyed likes them. Go to 130 F if you want medium rare.

I brought it inside and let it sit for 10 minutes.

We like our steak sliced so I cut it into 1/4 inch slices.

We served them with coleslaw and Tasty Potato Roast.

The Verdict

The steak was just the way She Who Must Be Obeyed likes it which is a little overdone to me but I was hoping to earn her affection. After all it was Valentines Day! Otherwise, it was perfect. Just a hint of pepper and garlic from the seasonings and a wonderful juicy steak.
