I made Bernardin Peach Pie Filling in my prior post. Of course, I had to make a dessert. I love cobbler so I cobbled one together. Continue reading Peach Cobbler

Bernardin Peach Pie Filling
This is fresh fruit time of year in British Columbia. I got some wonderful Okanagan peaches from a fruit stand while travelling. Of course, they are great fresh but I bought enough to do some preserving. I had seen the Bernardin Peach Pie Filling in their excellent canning book and I love peach pie and cobbler. Canning some of the peaches would let me have pie and cobblers this winter. It had to be done! Continue reading Bernardin Peach Pie Filling
Berbere Short Ribs
I visited family in Penticton, BC and their neighbour was a butcher. We went to his store, Tony’s Meats. He had an excellent selection of meat but I was immediately drawn to some wonderful short ribs. It is hard to get short ribs here in the mountains and I just had to have these. Continue reading Berbere Short Ribs
Dry Rib Tips
My friend likes dry ribs and orders them when we go to restaurants. The question was, could I do a great dry rib on my smoker. I fired up the Louisiana Grills Pellet Smoker and gave it a go. Continue reading Dry Rib Tips
Montana Bacon on a Stick
I have made Bacon on a Stick in a previous post. They are spareribs that have been cured like bacon and then smoked. I had friends visiting from Montana and I wanted to make something a little out of the ordinary barbecue for them. So I made bacon on a stick with a different seasoning blend and Montana Bacon on a Stick was born. Continue reading Montana Bacon on a Stick
Crispy Q Chicken Fingers
One of the best things about my Louisiana Grills Pellet Smoker is its versatility. I do a lot of smoking with low heat over hours but it can also kick out some high temperatures. Why not use those higher heats to make a dish I would normally do in the oven but avoid heating up the house on a summer day? I couldn’t think of a good reason. Continue reading Crispy Q Chicken Fingers
Maple Glazed Salmon
It is the season when wild salmon is only expensive as opposed to ridiculously extravagant. We had a nice piece of sockeye fillet but we had been working in the yard and were busy. One of the great things about my Weber Genesis Propane Grill is it can make a great meal quickly. I decided to do a simple glaze for the salmon and grill it. Continue reading Maple Glazed Salmon
Old Fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
If you have been following this blog, you know I like molasses in my cookies. I also like oatmeal raisin cookies. I found this recipe on the Betty Crocker recipe site and had to give it a try because it has both. Continue reading Old Fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Mountain Toast
A friend gave me a loaf of bread from a bread machine. I don’t mind bread from a machine but they just don’t seem to have the same texture as regular kneaded bread. However, this loaf was oversized which made it perfect for Mountain Toast on the Weber Genesis Grill. Continue reading Mountain Toast
