This dish was a potluck or food day at work staple in the eighties. I loved it. Unfortunately, it is made with a cake mix which means it has too much sugar. I love Pork Chop Cordon Bleu but it is like trying to stop the tides to keep the cheese in the chicken breasts so I decided to try something different. Sometimes you just need a really good steak. We normally buy the lower grades of beef you find in the supermarket coolers. Last night, we cooked up a prime top sirloin. Prime is a higher grade of beef and it really does make a difference in the beef. Now, don’t get me wrong, we’ve enjoy a good grade A or AA steak but the Prime is better. This is just a sandwich. But it is a sandwich with home smoked pulled ham. I had it in the freezer and it or something like it is always available. It is way better than the plastic sliced meat they sell at supermarkets and is way cheaper than the products from a good deli. All the while, it tastes great.
So, if you want to have great food, eat better, save money and be healthier, cook your own food. Prepare meats, breads and other foods for your freezer.
