Molasses Apple Crisp From Crosby’s Molasses

It is the time of year that apples ripen. A mystery tree showed up in my back yard a few years ago and then started producing very tasty apples. It was obviously time for an apple crisp but I wanted something different. I went to the Crosby’s Molasses site and found a recipe for Molasses Apple Crisp. It had to be tried.

I started by peeling and coring the apples.

I creamed the butter and brown sugar together in my stand mixer. I added the flour to the mixture and mixed until crumbly.

I tossed the apples with the cinnamon, salt and molasses and then spread the crumb mixture over the top.

I baked it at 350 F for 30 minutes.

The Verdict

Wow, this was great. The crisp was fudge-like, the molasses made a great syrup and the apples were cooked but still had shape. This is a new favourite.

  1. You had a mystery apple tree just show up in your yard?! Why does this stuff never happen to me?! How cool and what a tasty way to serve the harvest!

    1. Har! I sometimes feel like my life goes like that. I met a beautiful woman and fooled -er- persuaded her into marrying me. I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I have friends who support me and make me laugh. Plus, apple trees just grow in my back yard. I have always felt like fortune has smiled on me more than I deserve. May your life be as blessed.
