Grilled Chicken Thighs, You Don’t Always Need a Recipe

East West Chicken2

OK, it is dinner time. You have some chicken thighs you bought or thawed from the freezer.  What are you going to do with them? I say, experiment and have fun!

This happened recently and I pulled out some ingredients I thought would go well together. I felt a little like barbecue but wanted an eastern touch. I put 1/4 cup of ketchup, 1/4 cup of soy sauce and 1/4 cup of chili sauce in a bowl. I added steak sauce until I liked the taste. I added honey until it was sweet enough. I added Hoisin sauce to get an earthy flavour. Then I added garlic powder because I love garlic.

I used no measurements for most of the ingredients, I just added until they taste good.

Then I put 2/3 of the mixture over the thighs and let them sit for 1 1/2 hours.

I grilled them over medium heat until they were and internal temperature of 165 F and brushed them with the remaining sauce.

The Verdict

These were very tasty. An nice sweet barbecue taste with the earthiness of the soy and hoisin sauces. Have fun! Experiment!

    1. So nice of you to comment, Anna. I have to admit, I don’t follow a recipe as often as most people. Usually turns out fine but the occasional disaster adds spice to my life!

      Thanks for stopping by.
