Taco Seasoning

Taco Seasoning at oldfatguy.ca

I am behind in my postings so I am just getting to my creation for Cinqo de Mayo. Sorry. To make the wings (next post) I was planning, I needed Taco Seasoning. So I made some.

It is incredibly easy. Just mix the ingredients together. It can be used on chicken, fish, beef or pork. You can use it to make fajitas, enchiladas, burritos and taquitos. Did I mention you can use it in tacos?

As you can see from the picture, it is important to store it in a fancy dedicated container with a custom label.

The Verdict

I like this taco seasoning because it has a touch less cumin than some of the commercial ones and I think that gives a better flavour balance.

  1. You know, Martha Stewart probably has a stencil that you can print on address labels just for occasions like this. But I want to say it was the masking tape and pen that drew me to your taco seasoning. Somehow, this should be the litmus test of a good homemade taco seasoning, if you ask me. You go, man. I’m so lazy, I don’t lable my seasoning jars at all. I just sniff them and go, “Taco seasoning … probably.” So you’re way ahead of me.

    1. Actually, I just found a spice mix I made in my cupboard with no label. Too bad. It tastes pretty good and I don’t know what it is.
