We have our Thanksgiving in October in Canada. Like our American neighbours, it is a special day for traditional food and time spent with family.
Why do we look forward to traditional dishes, turkey or ham with varied side dishes from corn bread to mashed potatoes? There is nothing special about these dishes except we eat them on a special day. I think it is because taste and smell bring back memories, the fond memories of our parents, the kinship of close friends, and the love of our families.
So, I hope all my American friends can be with their friends and family and will enjoy the bounty of a great meal. Even if you are alone, I hope you can find the memories and joyous moments of your life.
Eat, drink but, mostly, enjoy your holiday.
