We stayed at the Augherea Guest house in Longford. It is a nice accommodation in the country.
For breakfast I was served Irish streaky bacon. It is their equivalent of our side bacon but is leaner and has a less salty cure.
Allow me a moment to honour the Irish food industry. I was impressed by the quality of the meats, dairy and the preparation. Ireland deserves to be on any foodie’s go to list.
It was off to a tour set up by the Farrell Clan.
We stopped at The Best Western Skylon Hotel in Dublin for a buffet lunch. Basic good food with overly generous portions.
On the way back, we went to a set menu feast at Leixlip House outside of Dublin. This was an upscale feast in a delightful old hotel. I had a goat cheese in puff pastry, free range chicken and sticky toffee pudding. The only thing better than the meal was the good company,
