In the previous two posts I pointed out the conundrum of my buddy wanting spicy ribs and that I wanted to try a haskap sauce. I got around it by making both. In this post, I will go into how I cooked the ribs. Continue reading Spareribs Two Ways

As I said in the prior post, my buddy wanted to have spicy ribs but I have been wanting to try making barbecue sauce using my haskaps. I did both and here is the recipe and technique for my Haskap Barbecue Sauce. If you don’t have haskaps, you can substitute blueberries. Continue reading Haskap Barbecue Sauce
My buddy was coming over and wanted spareribs. I told him I wanted to try Haskap Barbecue Sauce. Think of haskaps as a sour blueberry. He was skeptical and said he likes his ribs spicy. I told him I would make a Sriracha Barbecue Sauce for the ribs and that would have a touch of spice. What I didn’t tell him was I was doing both sauces and was going to do 1/2 the ribs with each. This post is how I made the Sriracha Barbecue Sauce. The Haskap Barbecue Sauce and the cooking of the ribs will be in subsequent posts.

We’d been grocery shopping and then worked in the garden. We needed a quick meal but who said an easy quick meal can’t be great. She Who Must Be Obeyed picked some fresh lettuce and strawberries from the garden and made a great salad. I fired up the WSM Mini and hot smoked some salmon. Sigh, nice weather, a great wife and wonderful food makes a great meal. Continue reading Hot Smoked Salmon
I wanted to make a foccacia with whole wheat and buckwheat. She Who Must Be Obeyed said it was hot and didn’t want the house heated up by baking. So, I mixed up my dough and cooked it on my Weber Barbecue. Everyone was happy!
We were having a friend over for wine and appetizers. I was going to make chicken wings. She Who Must Be Obeyed informed me she wanted the wings to have crispy skin. I like my wings sticky but it is possible to have both. The secret is putting lots of butter on the chicken skin while it is cooking and then tossing them in a sticky sauce. So, I invented Sweet Tequila Wings.
I still have some moose given to me by a generous friend. One of the pieces was a chuck roast. I decided to use it in one of my favourite recipes, Beef Barley Stew.
My buddy, Bill, had tried this commercial marinade and liked it.
As he is a good buddy, he brought me a bottle of it, Clubhouse LaGrille Signature Steakhouse 30 minute Marinade. I had a couple of sirloin steaks and gave it a try.
